1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO are both identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is an excellent option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the robot when it is full.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they're excellent in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we test. It may get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filter clean to prevent them from getting blocked. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station, and it automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning from where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot remote vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or through the app.

In our testing, the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases clean air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large dust or crumbs. It has three suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It is able to quickly switch from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum and vice versa.

This model also has docks that charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments and an clip for a wand. This is a major improvement over older Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its short run time. Its marketing claims that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are not true as CR's tests have shown. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's enough time to clean the average-sized home, but not enough to get into every corner. (A second run is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better on low-pile robotic floor vacuums carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most types of debris and sizes during our testing, and it often passes over the same areas several times to get a really thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows it to reach into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice touch.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it lacks the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. As a result, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently runs out of battery power before making it back to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot cleaning machine is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is able to better navigate itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, because it has a better battery life, the ability to change its suction power mode manually, comes with physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a larger motor, and can perform better on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It's not a surprise, then, that they are also among the top producers of affordable robot vacuum vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has a cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a variety of customization options for your Robotic floor vacuums cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior customizations, docking frequency settings and many more. The app is simple to navigate and use, just like other Samsung devices.

In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models that we tested, and this could be a deterrent for some shoppers.

The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed via the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you monitor your pets or kids when you're away from home. The filter and the dust bin can be cleaned for quick, painless cleanup. The app allows you to manually steer the robot in the event of need. My living room rug, for example is darkly colored which could cause a problem for other robots. The HRV 425BL, however was able to continue to move across the border without ever registering the high point. Also, the ability to create weekly cleaning schedules is a fantastic time-saving feature.
