Both robots are good at removing surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and can move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. The i3+ isn't able to feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top rated robot vacuum-rated robots that we tested. It could be stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between surfaces, such as carpet and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it might encounter. You should also keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station and automatically empties its trash into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot through the app or voice.

In our testing the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our top choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with amazon robot vacuum Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session, move itself around the room and vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households however, it can also fit nicely on the table for a coffee or a bookshelf that you can spin around like the magic wand.

The V10 is powered by seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that can provide power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases clean air back into your home. It is also more durable and has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a greater variety of automation features.
