The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. 2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's loud, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, although it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
