Category A1 Rules For Motorcyclists

Category A1 rules are for those who wish to ride small motorcycles. These vehicles have a maximum cylinder power of 35 kW. They cannot be directly derived from vehicles that have more than double their power.

The open category of drone operations can be subdivided into three categories A1 to A3. You can fly drones with the class C0 or C1 as part of the A1 subcategory (fly over people) until January 2024.

A1

Category A1 is one of the three EASA drone categories. It is applicable to aircraft that have a maximum take-off mass (MTOM) of up to 25 kilograms. It requires a log of flight and a flight plan as well as remote identification systems and a geoawareness. The drone must remain in the view of the pilot. It is not allowed to fly over people or areas that are used for commercial, recreational or industrial reasons. The drone must stay below 120 meters.

Applicants for an A1 licence must have at least 16 years of experience riding two-wheeled motor vehicles. They must also have completed the obligatory basic training and pass both a theory and a practical test. In addition, they must possess a valid medical certificate.

A1 license holders are permitted to drive mopeds that have a cylinder capacity of no more than 1250cc, and a power-to-weight ratio not more than 0.01 kW/kg. They are also able to drive motorcycles with an optimum cylinder capacity of 125 cc, as well as trikes, quad bikes and quad-bikes.

The category A1 driving license is designed to provide easier access to the next category, which allows holders to drive vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of up 35 kW. This is a way to gain experience driving vehicles with less power prior to moving on to higher categories of licence.

From January 1, 2024, current drones that do not have a CE mark are able to be used within the subcategory of A1. This is because they are deemed to be low risk and don't pose a significant risk to the public. They must, however, be at least 150 meters away from industries, buildings and recreation areas. In addition, they must not fly over crowds or operate within 5 km of airfields or airports.

A2

You may be eligible for an A1 motorcycle licence if you have completed your CBT and are looking to obtain an kurs na kategorię a1 motorcycle licence. This permits you to ride an unrestricted motorcycle with no sidecar. It must have the capacity of cylinders up to 125cc, and the power output can be up to 11 kW. You can also fly in the A2 category with drones that weigh a total of up to 4kg but you must keep them at a safe distance from people when taking off and landing. The drones should be at least 30m away from people in low-speed mode, or 5m if they are not involved. You also must pass the A2 Certificate of Competence (A2 CofC) exam to fly in this category.

If you want to fly larger drones, then you'll need to apply for an operator's license in the particular category. This requires you to complete the General VLOS Certificate training, flight assessment and prepare an Operations Manual. The process for applying is similar to a PfCO. A2 can also allow you to operate transitional drones that are not yet CE certified, but have been modified to lower the chance of collisions with other people. You will only be able to fly these drones in A2 until the end of 2022, after which they'll have to be in compliance with the A3 regulations.

The A1 and A2 categories will allow you to become a confident and safe motorcyclist. The amount of lessons you need will depend on your capability and the progress you are making in your learning, but you must complete a certain amount of special rides. A3

This category allows flights with drones that have the maximum mass for take-off of up to 25 kg. Although it is a less risk operation, strict precautions are required to prevent the risk of accidents. A distance of 150 metres is required between drones and commercial, residential industrial, recreational, and residential areas. This category also requires drones to have a remote identification system as well as geoawareness systems.

Similar to the Open category this tier is subdivided into subcategories A1, Prawo Jazdy Kategorii A1 A2 and A3. The A1 subcategory allows flights that involve uninvolved persons and is designated for drones having the Class identification label C0 or C1. It requires a minimum of 30 metres from any third party while flying at flight height, or 5 metres in slow flight mode.

Drones bearing the Class Identification Label C2 can be operated under subcategory A2 provided they meet the requirements for size and the remote pilot has passed an additional theoretical knowledge test. This test is designed to test the remote pilot's comprehension of the technical and operational mitigations to mitigate the risks associated with flying slightly larger drones (class C2, below 4kg mass) close to people. The certificate of competence to fly Category A2 is given after successful completion of this test.

There are 'transitional arrangements' that allow legacy drones, that aren't certified, to operate under categories A1 and/or A2 for two years following the implementation of the new EU regulations. The drones of the past cannot be used to fly over people, and must have an A2 CofC.

To operate a drone under this category, you must first take the online test for identification of flyers and then pass a theory test. You must also prove that you have some actual knowledge of your drone and then submit a written proof of competence. These requirements are similar to the driving license model, whereby a driver who first obtains their licence for a lower category vehicle can then move up to an upper category.

A4

The DOH is currently working on specific guidelines to be used in category A4. These will be consistent with other operations and will also include details such as the number of dressing changes each day. They will be presented to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infections (IATF-EID) and Jazda Na Motorze the DOH National Immunization Technical Advisory Group. The IATF EID and the DOH National Immunization Technical Advisory Group will examine and approve the guidelines prior to being finalized.

In this category, drones sporting a class identification label C0 and C1 are able to fly within a distance of 50 metres from uninvolved people. This is a low-risk category, but strict precautions should be taken to mitigate incidents. This test is designed to assess your understanding of the additional risks that are associated from flying drones in close proximity to people. Successful completion of the test results in an official certificate of competence for this subcategory. You have to complete a certain amount of lessons to pass the theory test and then you have to pass the practical test. It's based on your age, capabilities and the level of learning. But, at least 12 lessons of 90 minutes are required to be completed.

During these lessons you will become familiar with your vehicle and traffic laws. You will also learn valuable tips regarding how to drive in difficult situations. In addition to the required lessons, you must attend specific number of special rides.

The new category E integrates class A1 (retail) and class A2 (financial and professional services), class B1 (offices), class A4 (restaurants/cafes) and classes A5 and B5 (hot food takeaway). It also includes medical and health-related uses, creches and nurseries and indoor sports/recreation facilities.
