Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or running. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver even in tight spaces.

For a smooth ride, go for a pram with air-filled tyres and look for models with 360deg front swivel wheels. However, they are susceptible to punctures so be prepared with a repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

Recent figures have been released that show that the three-wheeled vehicle which was a symbol of the decade of more money than sense is in a decline. They've been replaced with four-wheelers that can handle a wider range of terrain, yet still look elegant and easy to push.

The larger the wheels are the better your buggy will cope with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear allow you to move and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the buggy with a newborn and 3 year old and found it was able to withstand cobbles, grass rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt solid to push and extremely solid on rough terrain. The tyres, that are inflatable and require to be pumped regularly they have suspension built-in. It was extremely comfortable for my children.

The shape and size of the seat is another thing to think about. You want the seat to be big enough to allow your child to feel comfortable and to allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies will have a full lie-flat option while others only allow for an adult facing one.

The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and wet walks. This buggy is ideal for a single child starting from birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for babies and toddlers up to age four and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, improved 5-point harness, and a large padded seat unit. Storage options are also good, with a large basket and zip pockets on the hood, and an extra pouch at the rear of seat unit.

Larger wheels

Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability when driving on rough terrain. This is perfect for off-road buggies. Additionally, they allow you to maneuver the buggy through tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies feature wheels that swivel on the front to assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock for greater speed and stability. This is also helpful when you crash into the roots of a tree or stray curb, since the front wheel can be lifted up to keep you from hitting it.

Both of these buggies come with larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on grass, gravel tracks and market town cobbles" and can easily go up and down kerbs. They also have a suspension that Kath says "smooths out bumps extremely effectively".

The downside of having larger wheels is that they can make some buggies quite wide and may struggle to squeeze through narrow spaces. This can be an issue if you're using it as an exercise bike or to to get through doors that are narrow when out and out and about. Fortunately, many models come with compact folding options that let you remove the front wheels to make compact storage.

Easy to manoeuvre

A three-wheel buggy can be more maneuverable for a child. The way they are constructed means that the front wheels spin at a quick pace and are extremely easy to manoeuvre which makes them perfect for difficult terrain such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tested a lightest 3 wheel stroller wheeler with her newborn and toddler and stated: "The Terrain was a pleasure to navigate over the rough terrain with the swivel rear wheel particularly useful. I was also awed by the way it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. I found it extremely stable when driving downhill or over uneven ground."

The only drawback to this great mobility is that the 3 wheel baby stroller wheel buggy's larger wheels do sometimes mean that it can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces - something to consider especially if you live in a metropolitan region. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeled buggy could be the better option for you.

Bumper bar
