Robots that mop and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet mess (spills, staining) in one go without the need to switch out devices. They can also reduce space in comparison to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot must be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer at a affordable price and is one of the easiest robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean, full dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in a matter of minutes.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app which lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

For example, you can decide to let the robot do a deep clean in the living and kitchen but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to detect small obstacles that other models cannot. Its only drawback is that it can hit objects and walls at full speed. However, a quick glance at the cleaning history in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and what obstacles it's run into or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station shows the maintenance tasks that must be completed like emptying the debris tray and cleaning the dirty water tank. It also mixes detergent into the water tank in a controlled manner with a 600ml of eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time and the mop is able to operate for 184 minutes in Quiet mode, while the vacuum is able to do 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or return to the base to refill. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is intuitively laid out and easy to understand however we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a vacuum only or mop clean, when looking at a cleaned area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's flagship robot vacuum best vacuum and mop. The model this year has a double agitator built into its mopping pad. This enhances the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pick up small hairs and other particles that other robotic cleaners may miss.

As with the two other Roborock models I've tested it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to helps to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes dual cameras that can detect objects, and determine if they're walls or other surfaces. It then can alter its direction automatically and clean the objects without missing a step.

It's the most expensive model I've tested and it comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular design is striking and only has three physical buttons. The power button, which restarts the cleaning process mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child lock and a home button to bring the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank self-empties and the bin auto-filling.

The only issue I encountered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if it's required) however, it's a hassle to take off the mount itself for manual washing. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot vacuum with mop crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these through the Roborock app, which is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and monitor the battery's life. You'll have to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. This is a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop with exceptional suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and a variety of innovative features. Its smart design allows users to tailor and effectively clean while reducing time.

In contrast to other robots that only focus on one task, the X40 is capable of performing both vacuuming and mopping simultaneously or individually. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas that have carpet and only mop hard floors or vice versa. It can be controlled using the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple to use and intuitive, and the X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are easy to configure. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, view floor plans and maps and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also monitor its progress and notify you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to keep clean and has many features which make it a good robot vacuum choice for busy families. The docking station will automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads and refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It can also detect when the mop pad is full and notify you when it gets overflowing, reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's one of the most expensive models available however, it comes with numerous extra features that distinguish it from. The mops come with a brand new feature called Smart DuoScrub that utilizes two mops that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and it has a high maximum suction power of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can remove pet hair and other small dirt particles and also pick up spills and wet spots.

Its mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This is beneficial because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from building up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and it could be a useful method of keeping your home clean for longer.

There are plenty of options, Robots That Vacuum and Mop including the option to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. They can be set through the app or there are buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and offers many options for customising the cleaning routine, and there are numerous functions that other robots don't have - such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically boosts suction power when it detects dust particles, instead of relying on the manual setting.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen in the market, sporting a white and metallic design that looks elegant and classy. It's a little heavier than the other two-in-1 robots on this list - at 4kg but it's not too heavy, and feels robust and well built. The mopping system is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop is a great choice for hard floors or in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
