The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a decent cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuum cleaner vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's more expensive and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and best robot hoover mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for models with zone or best robot hoover spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house via the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. Also a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
