WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show the item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current level of the item upgrades. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Item upgraders can be found in many places, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
