1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3+ is an excellent robot vacuum that has several smart features that make it easier to maintain. The automatic vacuum bin emptying feature is among the most efficient features we've seen on an iRobot and it's compatible on both hard floors and carpets. The app will guide you through the entire process. It is also easy to use and set up. Its ability to resumptuate the same place it left off during our tests is a great feature. It was able to do this for 77 minute on one cleaning, and then the battery died.

The i3+ EVO is different from the other robot vacuums that we tested comes with a self-emptying bin that automatically dumps debris in an external dirt compartment on the base of its charging once it is fully filled. This reduces hands-on maintenance and also helps prevent the i3+ EVO from overfilling, but it still needs to be manually emptied after every cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's built-in dust bin holds 2.4L of debris, which is enough to get it through five or four cleaning sessions before you need to replace it.

Like the i7model, this model is equipped with state-of-the-art floor tracking sensors to create maps and navigate neat rows. However, the i3+ EVO only stores a single map while the i7 is able to store multiple maps. The i7 is also able to use its map to create no-go zones and virtual barriers, however the i3+ EVO cannot.

The i3+ EVO is more effective of picking up surface debris when compared to other robovacs that we have looked at, but it's not the most effective in cleaning corners and edges. It's also less gentle on furniture, despite being fairly quiet. It pulled chairs away from walls and made some collisions with the sides of our test bed, and was stuck to cords and toys while testing.

2. Black & Decker Q5 Pro

If you're looking to expand your collection of robot vacuums, or just beginning your journey, the Q5 Pro is a great option. It features an elegant design, powerful navigation, and useful automation at a reasonable cost. It's the most efficient pound-for pound model on sale right now and even beats Roborock's higher-priced models in several ways.

This robot is fantastic in cleaning floors that are bare, and its avoidance tech helps it steer away from furniture legs or other obstacles. It also does well on carpets and gets a high score in our navigation tests. The only snag is that it's a little noisier than many other models we test and it doesn't do similarly in our user satisfaction and predicted reliability tests.

The Q5 Pro comes with a large dust bin of 770ml, meaning that you won't need to empty it as often as other 2-in-1 robots. The Q5 Pro's 240-minute running time is also generous when in comparison to other 2-in-1 robots that we tested. If the battery is depleted it returns to its dock and automatically recharges, before starting cleaning where it left off. You can manage the Q5 Pro via the app and also use voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

This is the first robot we've seen that has 3D mapping. This, along with other innovations has helped it perform exceptionally well in our tests for vacuuming and mopping test. It allows you to schedule cleanings, set no-go zones and see the battery's status among other things. The app is easy to use, but it isn't compatible with Apple HomeKit and that feature is slated to be added in 2025. As of November 1, Apple has updated a footnote on its website to reflect that this feature will be delayed until 2025. Some other robots won't work with HomeKit However, many of them are compatible with Siri Shortcuts.

The iMop excelled in our navigation efficiency and coverage evaluations, and it was very adept at avoiding obstacles, including furniture. It also finds its way back to the base station if it is unable to recharge its batteries during cleaning.

It also comes with a spot house cleaning robot mode that lets you to clean or mop the specific area of your floor. It can also be programmed manually to follow a specific direction. This is a great option if you have narrow hallways or stairs. It was capable of cleaning carpets in our carpet cleaning evaluation however, it had trouble with thicker pile carpets and carpets.
